Areas of Volunteer Work

1. Administration Department
Responsibilities: Promote the center’s work and utilize resources to support the operations of various departments.
A. Packaging/organizing regular newsletters, devotional materials, CDs, etc. Open to both sighted and visually impaired individuals.
B. Ad-hoc miscellaneous tasks / general clerical work.

2. Church Resources / Library Department
Responsibilities:
A. Assist in transcribing church materials such as worship service programs, Sunday school lessons, memorial service programs, hymns, and theology courses into braille. (Currently handled by visually impaired volunteers)
B. Assist with scanning and proofreading books (Proficiency in Chinese/English typing required).

3. Production Department
Responsibilities: Transcribe books and materials into braille and audio formats, and participate in related tasks.
A. Reading & Proofreading: Work with visually impaired colleagues on proofreading. Requires volunteers with a good command of Chinese. (Assessment required)
B. Recording: Record materials into audio files. Requires volunteers with clear pronunciation and diction. (Assessment required)
C. Binding & Assembly: Organize and bind completed books. Requires detail-oriented visually impaired or sighted volunteers willing to handle meticulous tasks.

4. Overseas Ministry Department
Responsibilities: Connect with visually impaired individuals outside Hong Kong, support their spiritual growth, and care for their needs.
A. Caring Calls: Communicate with overseas readers to support their spiritual and life needs. Requires mature Christians with a willing heart to listen, and proficiency in understanding and speaking Mandarin or English.
B. Visitation: Assist the center in regular and ad-hoc visits to visually impaired individuals outside Hong Kong. Requires mature, sighted volunteers willing to engage with the visually impaired, and able to communicate in Mandarin or English.

5. Pastoral Care Department
Responsibilities: Care for the needs of local members, maintain contact, nurture their spiritual life, and support their growth within the church.
A. Visitation: Care for members and non-members, understand their living conditions, and provide appropriate assistance and comfort. Requires mature Christians with a willing heart to listen and respond appropriately.
B. Church Referral & Accompaniment: Provide initial accompaniment and contact churches when members express a desire to attend. Requires willingness to accompany visually impaired individuals to church services, with a commitment to participate at least twice.
C. Activity Support: Assist visually impaired individuals in participating in group activities or camps. Requires a heart to serve and learn how to care for the visually impaired.
